Getting Started – Self Assessment
What are your BMI, 5% and 10% Goals?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is an assessment generally used by GPs and health experts to determine if a person is underweight, overweight or within a healthy weight range.
Setting a goal to lose 5% or 10% of your body weight is an excellent start. This acts as an achievable ‘stepping stone’ to your ultimate Goal Weight and can give you a real boost of motivation, to keep you on your weight loss path.
Experts generally consider a BMI below 20 to be underweight and a BMI of 20 to 25 to be healthy. BMIs of 25 to 30 are generally considered overweight while a BMI over 30 is generally considered very overweight.
Setting a goal to lose 5% of your body weight is an excellent start. At Weight Watchers, a 5% weight goal acts as an achievable 'stepping stone' to your ultimate Goal Weight. Better still, losing 5% of your body weight could give you a real boost of motivation, to keep you on your weight loss path.
